I’m not super big on New Year’s Resolutions although I do enjoy the mark of the end of the old year and beginning of a new year. This brings me to a book that I’m currently reading called YOUR BEST YEAR YET. This book has me very inspired to not only set some serious goals for 2010 but to FOLLOW through with them. It asked some interesting reflective questions as well as guidance to accomplish what it is that you have been holding off from doing in your life. This book makes me think of our women’s surf camps and all of our guests that have passed through in the last six years. I hear many, many past guests that have said that they have always wanted to learn how to surf. I have so much admiration and respect for them for following their goals/dreams. Thank you SwellWomen Guests! You are an inspiration to me.

I just got an exceptional book from Amazon delivered to me. The title is, “Raw in Ten Minutes” by Bryan Au. I’m not a pure raw foodist nor is the menu at our women’s surf camps 100% raw. But I have to tell you…this is making me very excited and inspired. I’ve gone raw a couple of weeks now to try it out and I always feel SO good. I just have to tell everyone about it. I have more energy and feel clearer in the mind after eating raw foods for just a couple of days and my energy has sustained through the couple of weeks. When I found this book, I was excited about the title as I’m not a big fan of spending hours and hours in the kitchen. I would rather be surfing, of course. It’s super easy, even for you non-cooking types (like me). Another added bonus is the author, Bryan Au, is also a surfer and LOVES Hawaii. There are plenty of Hawaiian-type raw food recipes to try out. Check out his website at Raw in Ten. Let him know that Me-Shell from SwellWomen sent you…I would love to get Bryan out here for a raw food and surfing and yoga retreat. Anyone interested??
Here is a picture of my very first raw banana creme pie that I just made in, you guested it, ten minutes! I got the recipe from “Raw in Ten Minutes”. I used apple bananas (very, very sweet) from our very own backyard. No agave needed.
