This is from my friend Peggy at peggyhall.com. I love the wisdom about the sun and feel the same way. I use to have trouble with this one when I lived in NYC, but now, in Maui it’s not an issue. Thank goodness. I love the sunshine!
It’s Peggy here, with this week’s wellness tip, which is one of my
personal favorites: get yourself some sunshine!
Sunshine is actually good for you.
I hope you’re not one of those people who shun the sun because
you’re afraid it’s dangerous!
You see, just like plants, we require those solar rays in order to
thrive.
I’m not recommending that you bake in the sun for an hour at high
noon — but just get out in the daylight for about 1o-15 minutes
every day. You’ll need to keep your arms or legs exposed so the sun
can actually hit your skin — without sunscreen!
And why am I suggesting you get a daily dose of sunshine?
To keep you as healthy as possible, of course!
Did you know that recent research shows that moderate, daily sun
exposure actually protects you from skin cancer? Yes, you read that
correctly!
It’s not the sun that causes skin cancer — it’s the lack of
vitamin D, which actually comes from the sun!
